Against the Stream Nation….
Our intention is to create a community of healthy, accountable, wise and compassionate people from every walk of life. We welcome people from all racial, gender, economic, sexual orientations, social, political and religious backgrounds/preferences and believe that the path of awakening is attainable by all and should be available to all.
Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society (Los Angeles) was founded in 2008 by Noah Levine to make the teachings of the Buddha available to all who are interested. Dave Smith was encouraged by Noah to carry the Against the Stream message to the Southlands. In 2011, Dave Smith founded Against the Stream-Nashville. Since the Fall of 2014, Andrew Chapman has continued the mission of offering the Buddha’s teachings to the Nashville community and is the current Operating Director at the center.
